An officer accidentally leaks information about the first test of a new aircraft model. When spies get hold of this classified information, the development of the new airplane is under threat.

The film follows the fate of the Strogov peasant family. The story takes place in Western Siberia in the late 1940s.

Natka, who dreams of becoming a captain, is sent to pioneer work. She takes her first assignment very seriously - and receives a trip to Crimea.
