The film focuses on a young prosecutor who sets out to challenge a system during Stalin’s Great Terror in 1937 after discovering a letter from a prisoner that is a desperate plea for help.

Drug addict Raitis, who has spent most of his life in the criminal world, gets to know the waitress Jana and hopes to turn his life around. But once again he is drawn into the darkness of the past.
